2-day touring course and overnight stay at Berghaus Alpenrösli

This tour is aimed at participants with an intermediate to advanced level and confident skiing or splitboarding technique. The focus is on touring. In the evening we can look at the tour planning, risk management and the evaluation of the tour together. Touring in the Rätikon is very popular. There are so many possibilities and in great surroundings. From north, south, east or west slopes to gentle grassy peaks and wild rocky regions.

The top tours:

  • The Chrüz near St. Antönien is a first-class panoramic mountain. It offers fantastic views of the Sulz- and Drusenfluh.
  • The Eggberg is just as suitable as a group activity as it is as an introductory tour for the first day.
  • The Girenspitz is a beautiful tour with predominantly moderate to moderately steep passages and individual downhill options on highly structured slopes.
  • Hasenflüeli with its shady, medium-steep slopes often provide great downhill fun.
  • At the Rotspitz, on one side the beautiful gentle grassy peaks with their magnificent alpine pastures, on the other side the wild rocky region.
  • The routes on Schafberg and Girenspitz are among the most beautiful pleasure tours in St. Antönien.
  • The Spitzenbüel may only be an insignificant, small snow dome, but it offers hidden great freeride slopes.

Overnight stay:
In the Alpenrösli mountain lodge in Partnun. 40 minutes from the St. Antönien parking lot, Rüti.
The mountain lodge offers many options, e.g. if you have food intolerances, please contact the lodge directly: www.berghaus-alpenroesli.ch The mountain lodge has a 13-bed and a 17-bed dormitory for us (divided into 3-bed and 4-bed compartments). Showers and toilets on the floor. Bed linen available. Shower towel not available. Hut sleeping bag required. Half board with dinner 3-4 courses at 18.00 hrs.

  • Sleeping places in dormitories:

  • 2-day guided tour course with Niki as guide.

What is NOT included:

  • Drinks
  • Snacks, where we will eat from our rucksacks.
  • Arrival and departure costs, including possible parking fees

The most important information summarized:

  • Type: Medium to advanced tour. Riding ability according to level 2 – 3.
  • Price: 480.- per person. Incl. accommodation (half board), visitor’s tax. Maximum of 7 participants. 5 days before the course cancellation is free of charge, after that 100.- cancellation fee.
  • Equipment: It is compulsory to bring an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel. Touring equipment can be rented directly from Radical Sports (see below).
  • Additional costs: food & drinks during the tour day, possibly parking fees,
  • Payment information: Full payment before the start of the tour, with the ticket system on this website via credit card or TWINT.

Medium to advanced skiing ability according to level 2 – 3.

  • Comfortable, approx. 700 to 1400 m altitude difference per day
  • Descent 700 – 1500 m depending on the route

You should have mastered the basics of snowboarding. Recommended prerequisites: Clean changes of direction on the piste, basic shapes and sufficient fitness. L to WS depending on the steep slope you choose. Descents up to 1500m. Independent ascent in all types of snow. No touring knowledge required, but freeride experience depending on the route.

    Please note that there may be deviations depending on the tour or course. Details can be found in the tour description above.

    Equipment according to the announcement. As a general rule, you will need special touring equipment for ascending and skiing off-piste. Touring skis or a splitboard are mandatory, while snowshoes are only suitable to a limited extent, depending on the tour and the conditions. The most important materials are

    – Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe
    – Splitboard or skis including skins and crampons
    – Drinks and snacks
    – A rucksack to store everything.

    Equipment check: Please check that your equipment is in good working order before every tour.
    With splitboards, pay particular attention to checking all screws. If you have any questions, please contact your guide.

    Of course, you can also hire equipment from any other store.
    When hiring equipment, whether from a store or a colleague, always pay attention to functionality.

    Participation in a tour is at your own risk.
    Please ensure that you have adequate insurance cover, primarily for accidents and rescue.
    A patronage of Rega is particularly worthwhile.

    Inform the responsible tour leader in good time before the tour of any existing safety-related illnesses or medication.

    The mountain adventure harbors risks. No tour takes place without the essential safety equipment – avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel.
    This equipment can be hired from Radical or another provider.
    Airbag and helmet are not obligatory.

    Risk management on tours: Safety has top priority.
    Weather and conditions determine whether the tour goes ahead.
    The tour may have to be postponed or adapted at short notice, at no additional cost to you.

    The avalanche danger cannot be assessed in absolute terms, but the risk on ski and splitboard tours can be calculated through targeted risk management.
    This requires continuous consideration and measures.

    You will always find the requirements for the tour in the detailed description. Basically, the following applies: For running with a splitboard, skis or snowshoes in the great outdoors, you should enjoy it and be prepared to reach your destination under your own steam. Other requirements are

    • Good health
    • Safe driving on slopes of up to 35°
    • Changes of direction in all types of snow
    • Stop and pause
    • Stand up independently in all snow conditions
    • Lift riding, including stirrup lifts
    • Winter equipment
    • Conditional and technical requirements according to the invitation to tender
    • Implement the guide’s instructions.

    The ascent itself is not difficult.
    We’ll find time to look at it together.

    Content and itinerary according to the announcement. Basically, every tour is unique. In addition to the basic information such as type, location, altitude and requirements, we always find time to cater to individual wishes. This could be a special photo, studying the avalanche conditions together or a break in a special place. Although not every tour is the same, most courses include the following content:

    • Glue on climbing skins correctly
    • Correctly adjust ski and snowboard boots/splitboard bindings, including climbing aid
    • Touring pole height and correct hand position
    • Checking and using the avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe
    • Use and installation of crampons
    • Practicing hairpin bends
    • Running, enjoying, powdering and experiencing nature
    • Avalanche awareness, planning and orientation

    Parking spaces are generally available, but are often subject to a charge.
    If the weather is fine and conditions are good, you can expect traffic jams, especially on the way home.
