Baseline

Tail: The tail of the snowboard.
Tip: The nose or front of the board.
Camber: Referred to as positive camber, it describes the natural curvature of a snowboard or ski when not under load. Camber is a key factor when choosing the right ski or snowboard.
Rocker: Referred to as negative camber. We use tip and tail rocker, which shortens the effective edge length. This makes the snowboard/splitboard more agile and easier to maneuver, making it more forgiving of mistakes. The rocker also improves float in soft snow, while the existing camber in the middle ensures good control.

Bestes Brett ever!
Im Aufstieg geht mit dem Rider alles ein bißchen einfacher und safer von der Hand als gewohnt. Das Gesamtpaket aus geringem Gewicht, Vorspannung, Flex, Biegelinie, Shape und Radius bringen mir, da lehne ich mich mal aus dem Fenster, auf Anhieb 30% mehr Höhenmeter. Ganz ohne daß man das Gefühl hat, ein Vorteil mußte durch einen Nachteil an anderer Stelle erkauft werden.
In der Abfahrt ist das Gerät der Burner schlechthin. Einfach geradestellen und die Beschleunigung genießen ist schon sehr geil. Geht ab Werk stabil ab wie Luzie. Der Wahnsinn. Das Brett kann aber viel mehr, es macht praktisch alles perfekt. Sowohl Vollspeed geradeaus als auch um alle Ecken geht’s spielerisch und sicher, völlig ohne Zicken und Macken kann man sich auf das Gerät verlassen und die Fahrt geniessen. Alles funktioniert einfach richtig gut.
Den Mini-Taper merkt man Gottseidank kaum. Das war bei Radical auch schon anders. Der Kantenhalt ist erstklassig. Trotzdem werden auch auf harten, schnellen Gleitstrecken keine Verkanter provoziert, easy handling.
Mit der harmonischen Biegelinie sorgt die Abstimmung dafür daß sich das Brett immer 100% berechenbar verhält. Das kenne ich von anderen Raketen auch schon mal anders.
Zwei Punkte gibt es die mir nicht so gut gefallen: da sind die KK-Clips. Für meinen Geschmack zu viel technischer Schnickschnack der kaputt gehen oder vereisen kann. Damit nicht genug, ragen die Teile auch noch über die Kante heraus. Beides kein Beinbruch vielleicht, aber ich mags da einfach sauber.
Zum anderen das Topsheet, das zwar optisch was hermacht aber in meinen Augen nicht so wertig wirkt wie ich mir das wünschen würde und rauh gemasert ist worin ich keinen Vorteil sehe außer daß man mehr Schnee aufs Brett schaufelt als notwendig. Korrigiert mich gerne.
Unter dem Strich, darauf lege ich mich nach bald drei Wochen und 6000 Höhenmetern in fast ausschließlich schwierigen Bedingungen (kaum Pow) fest, ist das Rider das beste Splitboard von vielen die ich bereits hatte. Aufstieg, Abfahrt, in allen Bedingungen sehr geil. Ich LIEBE das Teil einfach!
Ach ja, beim Preis für die Felle mußte ich auch kurz beide Augen zudrücken. Am Ende freue ich mich, sagen zu können, die Felle von Montana sind wie das Brett: nahezu perfekt und jeden Franken wert.

Dass ein Splitboard sogar auf der Kunstschnee-Piste besseren Kantengriff und Spurkontrolle hat, als ein normales – nicht von Radical – hätte ich vorher nie gedacht. Das gibt Sicherheit und Vertrauen, auch für schwierige Verhältnisse beim Freeriden.
